RAIN or Shine has locked in head coach Yeng Guiao through the 2030 season of the Philippine Basketball Association after signing him up to an extra two-year contract.
The team made the official announcement through its social media accounts on Thursday.
“The journey continues. And it’s not stopping anytime soon. Rain or Shine and Coach Yeng Guiao are going all the way to 2030!” the team posted on social media.
The fiery mentor is largely credited for the renaissance of the Rain or Shine franchise since he returned to the team in September 2022 after handling NLEX for six seasons.
Under Guiao, the Elasto Painters reached the semifinals five of the last six conferences.
The seven-time PBA champion coach still has an existing two years in his contract, but the Elasto Painters management gave him a two-year extension deal, ensuring Guiao to lead the Elasto Painters through 2030.
Rain or Shine team owners Raymond Yu and Terry Que and team governor Mamerto Mondragon were all present during the contract signing.
Guiao led Rain or Shine to two league titles in the 2012 Governors’ Cup and 2016 Commissioner’s Cup.
