ALOR GAJAH: The remand period for five suspects connected to the discovery of a baby’s skeletal remains in Kelemak has been extended by three days. District police chief Superintendent Ahmad Abu Bakar confirmed the extension, stating the case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealment of birth.

The suspects include a 19-year-old woman believed to be the baby’s mother and her boyfriend. Both were initially remanded on Thursday following the grim discovery in front of a house.

Three other family members of the woman have also been remanded. They are her mother, elder sister, and younger brother, all aged between 16 and 40.

Police believe the skeletal remains had been buried at the location for approximately four months. The investigation into the concealment of birth is ongoing.
