Remulla stays put at DILG – Palace

MANILA, Philippines — Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla stays as Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) chief, Malacañang said on Monday.

In a press briefing, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro said that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. still trusts Remulla and there are no signs that he would be replaced.

“In their last conversation, I was a witness. It was in a meeting before we had the briefing last Thursday (May 14). I did not see anything that personally removed the President's trust in Secretary Jonvic Remulla,” Castro said in Filipino.

She brushed off talks that either former senator Antonio Trillanes 4th or Remulla’s predecessor, Benhur Abalos, would soon be taking over the reins at the DILG.

Rumors that Remulla was on his way out surfaced following his actions on the case of former Ako Bicol party-list representative Zaldy Co, the non-arrest of Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa, and the issuance of International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) red notices.
