KUNAK: Several damaged sections of the Kunak-Tawau road at KM5 and KM6 are currently being repaired, with full asphalt resurfacing work underway.

Daily Express previously reported on the severely damaged surface of this Federal road, which posed a danger to road users, especially light vehicles.

The issue was later referred to State Minister of Works, Datuk Ir Shahelmey Yahya, who assured that immediate action would be taken to address the road damage in the area.

Frequent road users, particularly daily commuters, have urged authorities to prioritise repairs, especially since it is the main road connecting the east coast and Kota Kinabalu.

A similar call was made by the President of Consumers Front of Sabah (CFOS) Nordin Thani, who urged the Ministry of Works (KKR) and the Public Works Department (PWD) to actively identify and repair damaged roads in their respective districts.

“Many Federal roads require urgent repairs to ensure the safety of road users,” Nordin stressed.
