Roads closed for Sunday Market in Manila

THE Manila Police District (MPD) announced on Saturday that several roads will be closed for the Queer Kalye Escolta Pedestrian Sunday Market, starting 9 p.m.

In a Facebook post, the MPD said the road closure covers the stretch of Escolta Street from T. Pinpin Street to Banquero Street; the stretch of Burke Street from Dasmariñas Street to Muelle del Nacional; and the stretch of Martinez Street from T. Pinpin Street to Burke Street.

Also, the MPD released rerouting schemes to guide motorists around the road closures.

Vehicles coming from Jones Bridge that intend to pass through Escolta Street toward Plaza Sta. Cruz will not be allowed to proceed and will instead be redirected to turn left onto T. Pinpin Street.

Meanwhile, motorists coming from San Vicente Street will also be required to turn left onto T. Pinpin Street to reach their destinations.

Authorities urged motorists to plan their trips and cooperate with traffic enforcers to minimize congestion during the event.

The MPD noted that road reopening will depend on the traffic situation in the affected areas.
