Kota Kinabalu: Persatuan Pesara Awam India Sabah (PPAIS) held its third Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Sabah Indian Association Building on Sunday, bringing together Indian retirees from across Sabah to review its activities, achievements and future plans.

PPAIS President Thiruchelvam Navaratnam said the association remains committed to fostering unity and safeguarding members’ welfare.

“The AGM is not only a time to reflect on our progress but also to chart new directions. We want our retirees to remain active, respected and able to contribute meaningfully to society,” he said.

The event was officiated with the lighting of the Kuthu Vilakku (oil lamp) by Datuk Dr Roland Chia and Datuk Wilfred Lingham, who was the guest of honour.

Members also reviewed the annual report, financial statements and upcoming programmes, while elections for office bearers were held to ensure continuity of leadership.

The AGM highlighted the importance of inter-community collaboration, volunteerism and closer ties with government agencies and NGOs to expand support for retired senior citizens.

PPAIS urged all Indian retirees in Sabah to take part in its programmes and contribute towards building a united and caring community.
