Sabah keglers shine in Sarawak meet

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah finished third overall with two gold, two silver and a bronze medals in the Sarawak Hornbill Team Cup Bowling Tournament at the 40 AMF Synthetic Lanes, Megalanes EMart in Batu Kawah, Kuching, Saturday.

The gold medals were won by Emmanuel Fo Yung Khee (single long oil), Nurul Amirah Amirul, Siti Nurafiqah Satal, Intan Qistina Tamring (trio long oil).

Silvers came from Intan Qistina Tamring (single long oil) and Md Noer Said (single short oil) while the bronze was delivered by Md Noer Said, Azril Fakhree and Ahmad Azraei Tamring (double short oil).

“We cannot be complacent .We have no time to waste but to continue training for the 45th National Championship and the 34th Interstate Championship in September as well as Sukma in Kuching next year.

“All three competitions will be using the same oil patterns and we have identified the weaknesses of each athlete that needs to be rectified,” they said .

Head of contingent, Aisyah Abdullah, said it was their best achievement in the competition and praised the team officials and parents for their inputs.

“I am grateful to the managers and coaches for their full commitment during the preparations and competition.

“Thank you also to the parents for their support and Sabah Sports Council for their assistance in the funding and preparations,” she said.

She also hoped the team would be more prepared for Sukma 2024 to be held at the same venue

Meanwhile, Sabah Tenpin Bowling Association President Rozzainnysham Talib congratulated the team for the success and also expressed his gratitude to the Youth and Sports Ministry, Sabah Sports Council and all the sponsors for the support.
