
SANDAKAN: The Sandakan Municipal Council’s double storey quarters with 24 door were destroyed in a fire at Batu 1.5, here, Tuesday.
Sandakan Fire and Rescue Station Chief Severinus Sainkui @ Nizam in a statement, here, Tuesday, said a 1.17pm distress call prompted a total of 14 firefighters to the scene some three kilometres away.
Also at the scene to assist were the police, Civil Defence Force, Sandakan Municipal Council and the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd.
The fire and rescue team managed to stop the fire from spreading to the other 12-door units on the first floor of the premises.

Read more The fire was brought under control at 1.41pm and the operation ended at 2.39pm.
Nobody was reported injured in the incident, while the cause of fire and estimate loss is still under investigations.
Meanwhile, Tang Szu Ching, Special Officer to Sandakan Member of Parliament Vivian Wong, visited the fire victims at the quarters after being alerted of the incident.
