
SANDAKAN: Police issued 18 summonses for various traffic violations during a two-day operation targeting road hooligans in several areas here on Jan 11 - 12.
Sandakan District Police Chief ACP Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek said the Operasi Samseng Jalanan focused on popular motorcycle ‘circuits’ along Jalan Labuk (Batu 8), Bandar Indah and Bandar Prima from 4pm on Jan 11 until 2am on Jan 12.
Advertisement“The summonses were issued for offenses including driving without a license, lack of insurance coverage and illegal exhaust modifications,” he said in a statement.
The operation also resulted in the seizure of 24 motorcycles under Section 60(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for further inspection of vehicle identification and modifications.

Read more Police also utilised the Mobile Compound Online Payment System (MCOPS) during the operation to verify records through the Royal Malaysia Police summons database and Road Transport Department system for driving licenses, road tax and vehicle ownership, as well as to check for outstanding arrest warrants.
Abdul Fuad said that such enforcement efforts would continue to ensure road safety and combat traffic violations.
