Sean O’Malley hits back at Ronda Rousey’s recent UFC comments
Sean O’Malley thinks Ronda Rousey owes a lot to the UFC and should show more appreciation for what the organisation did for her.
It was recently announced that, on May 16, 2025, Rousey will return to MMA to face Gina Carano in an event shown on Netflix.
Soon after the fight was confirmed, Rousey started promoting her comeback as a stand against the UFC, taking aim at Dana White and Hunter Campbell.
In response, current UFC fighter Sean O’Malley defended the company and questioned why she chose to go public with her criticism.
Sean O’Malley says it’s mad how many fighters are turning against the UFC

Ronda isn’t the only big name in the sport taking aim at MMA’s leading organisation. Jon Jones is still locked in a public dispute with Dana White and has even gone as far as to request his release from the company.
Meanwhile, Conor McGregor is also reportedly growing frustrated by delays in finalising his long-awaited return to action.
Despite the noise, O’Malley feels that Rousey, Jones and McGregor should all recognise what the UFC has done for them, questioning why they’ve chosen to go against the promotion.
Speaking on his podcast, O’Malley said: “It’s crazy to see all these top guys have an issue with the UFC. Ronda is obviously not in the UFC anymore but talking s— about it.
“Conor, the biggest star of all time having issues with the UFC. Jon Jones, probably considered by many as one of if not one of them as GOATs, having issues with them.”
“Who would Conor be without the UFC? Who would Ronda be without it? Who would Jon be? Could they have been successful other ways? Yeah. But could they have made this much money elsewhere?”
“If you feel like you’re being treated unfairly then speak up about it for sure but you gotta be grateful.”
Sitting on top of two consecutive title defences and a 10-fight unbeaten streak in bantamweight division, he’ll likely want to avoid damaging that relationship anytime soon.
