Several flights canceled due to technical issues, Middle East airspace restrictions

MANILA, Philippines — Several domestic and international flights were grounded due to technical problems and airspace issues.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), flights operated by Cebu Pacific Air (CEB), Philippine Airlines (PAL), PAL Express, and Cebgo were canceled.

PAL flights PR658 (Manila-Dubai) and PR659 (Dubai-Manila) were scrapped due to airspace restrictions in the Middle East. Similarly, CEB flight 5J019 (Dubai-Manila) was called off due to the same regional airspace constraints.

Meanwhile, PAL Express flights 2P2985 (Manila-Tacloban) and 2P2986 (Tacloban-Manila) were grounded due to an aircraft's technical issues.

Also, the aircraft for Cebu Pacific flights 5J325 and 5J326 (Manila-Daraga-Manila) was placed on Aircraft on Ground (AOG) status.

The aviation regulator noted that CEB's Manila-Daraga-Manila flights are waiting for clearance without giving further details, though it might be an aircraft issue.
