Manchester United title winner Mikael Silvestre says new manager Erik ten Hag must grab control of the dressing room.
Ten Hag takes charge of a squad fractured and low on unity.
Silvestre told the Daily Star: "When everything goes wrong there's hardly anything you can do. But in my time, I don't think we would have got to that point. This wouldn't happen, because there must be self-discipline and direction in the dressing room. Player's have to be above their own self-interests; there needs to be a group mentality, the team's objectives have to be above everything else.
"When personal goals or decisions take over and pollute the team spirit, that's when everything goes south.
"I know that in many dressing rooms I've been in, that wouldn't happen, because the guys would see the bigger picture. It's a little bit down to the way football has moved on - players look after their own interest before the group. Before it was more collective."
