JOHOR BAHRU – A Malaysian working in Singapore left home as early as 6.30am on polling day to fulfil his responsibility as a voter before reporting for work.
Sri Sangkar Gopalkrishnan, 43, who lives in Gelang Patah, arrived at the polling centre at SK Taman Universiti 2 in Skudai at 7.10am.
He said he chose to vote early as his shift as a warehouse assistant in Singapore begins at 8.30am.
"I left home early so I could vote before going to work. Once I've finished voting, I'll head straight to my workplace in Singapore.
"My employer also gave me the flexibility to fulfil my responsibility as a voter," he told Sinar on Saturday.
Sri Sangkar has been working in Singapore since he was 26 and commutes daily from Gelang Patah to earn a living.
He also urged Johoreans to come out and vote, stressing that every ballot counts.
"I hope other Johoreans will also come out and fulfil their responsibility. Every vote is valuable. It's for the future of our children and grandchildren," he said.
