SIX individuals were injured in a five-vehicle collision involving a Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) truck on Jalan Teluk Baru near the junction with Pantai Cenang in Langkawi on Friday afternoon.
According to a spokesperson from the Kedah Fire and Rescue Department, the incident occurred at approximately 3pm. Emergency services responded promptly, arriving at the scene within five minutes.
“Initial checks at the scene revealed a road accident involving five vehicles — a TLDM lorry, a Toyota Avanza, two Perodua Axias and a Perodua Viva,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
“A total of 30 people were involved in the incident, six of whom sustained injuries, including one woman. Three of the injured were taken to hospital, with one in the Red Zone, one in the Yellow Zone, and one in the Green Zone.
“The most serious injury involved a victim who sustained trauma to the neck,” the statement added.
The rescue operation concluded at 3.31pm.
In a separate statement, the Royal Malaysian Navy confirmed that the three-tonne military truck had been transporting 28 personnel assigned to the LIMA 2025 Maritime Demonstration Segment.
“The vehicle lost control and skidded off the road while returning from Friday prayers at Masjid Al Ehsan Temonyong, en route to Resorts World Langkawi,” said TLDM.
“Although no fatalities occurred, all 25 personnel on board were taken to the Maritime Segment medical room for preliminary treatment. Two individuals with leg injuries were referred to Hospital Sultanah Maliha for further care.”
TLDM also announced the formation of a board of inquiry to determine the exact cause of the crash.
