CANDON, Ilocos Sur — The South Korean national women’s volleyball team stamped its dominance in the 2026 Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Women’s Cup, clinching the championship with a flawless campaign.
South Korea completed an unbeaten 7-0 run, capping it off with a commanding straight-set victory over Taiwan, 25-19, 25-19, 25-22, in the finals on Sunday night at the Candon City Arena.
Relegated to the AVC after missing qualification for the Volleyball Nations League (VNL), the Koreans made the most of their stint, capturing their first-ever title in the tournament.
Kang Sohwi was named Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP) after delivering 14 points in the championship match. She shared that the victory carried special meaning, especially after their struggles in the VNL.
“In the VNL we always lose, and this is the part I get to appreciate winning, and how big winning it is in AVC,” Sohwi said.
