A BSF soldier was crushed to death by a speeding vehicle in front of the 95th Battalion BSF campus in the Bhondsi area on Tuesday night. An FIR was registered against the driver, who fled away with the vehicle.

According to the police, the deceased was identified as Sepoy Ravinder, a resident of Najafgarh in Delhi. He was posted with the 31 Battalion of the BSF. He had returned to duty after completing a 28-day leave and had to travel from Delhi to Srinagar by air courier service, for which he reported to the 95 Battalion’s transit camp on May 11.

At around 10:40 pm, he was crossing the Sohna-Gurugram road just 200 metres from Gate No 1 of the campus, when an unknown vehicle struck him. He suffered serious head and chest injuries.

A civilian alerted the sentry posted at the gate about the accident. The battalion’s Quick Reaction Team, Adjutant, and medical staff immediately arrived with an ambulance. Police from Bhondsi police station also arrived at the scene. The soldier was immediately taken to the Civil Hospital in Sector 10, where doctors declared him brought dead.

The medical report stated fatal injuries to the head and chest.

Following the complaint by the commandant office, an FIR was registered against the unknown vehicle driver at Bhondsi police station.

“We are searching for the unidentified vehicle and its driver based on a CCTV footage and other evidence from the area. The accused driver will be arrested soon,” said a senior police officer.
