A three-year-old boy and two women died on the spot, while four others suffered serious injuries after the auto they were travelling in was hit by a speeding truck from behind on the Delhi-Alwar road under the Rojka-Meo police station area in Nuh district in the wee hours on Saturday.

The truck driver fled the spot with the vehicle after the mishap. A case was registered at the Rojka-Meo police station.

According to the police, as many as 14 people from various villages in Agra district, Uttar Pradesh, were returning from a wedding ceremony in Palam, Delhi, in an auto. When they reached the Delhi-Alwar Road in the Rojka Meo police station area, a speeding truck hit the auto from behind around 2:15 am.

According to eyewitnesses, the impact was so severe that the auto was dragged several feet along the road. Passers-by informed the police and ambulance about the mishap.

The deceased have been identified as Chandni (28), a resident of Pinhat, Ram Kranti (19), a resident of Surajmal Pura, Shamshabad, and three-year-old Mridul, a resident of Jorbajariya in Agra.

The injured persons have been identified as Preeti, Archana, four-year-old Tamanna and Ram Niwas. Tamanna was admitted to Medical College, Nalhar, while Preeti, Archana and Ramniwas were referred to AIIMS, Delhi, owing to their critical condition.
