Manchester City defender John Stones offered the club's "deepest condolences" over the passing of Manchester United great Sir Bobby Charlton.
Charlton passed away before the kickoff to City's win against Brighton.
"First and foremost, our condolences, our deepest condolences to Sir Bobby's family, everyone surrounding him, everyone who came into contact with him," said Stones. "A legend of the game and he'll be sadly missed.
"It's such sad news, we just heard about, so I think on behalf of everyone at City, players, fans, everyone involved, I would like to pass on our deepest condolences."
City and United will meet next weekend for the first Manchester derby of the season. Stones added: "Of course, yeah, I'm sure both sides will do him proud of sporting occasion, a city that recognises incredible football. A legend of the game, as I've just said, it's an exciting one for us personally."
