
Renowned motivational speaker and philanthropist Harisharan Devgan called for adopting sustainable and healthy farming practices to build a stronger nation during an inspiring lecture on the theme “Healthy Farming, Healthy Nation – The Road Ahead in India” organised at Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Himachal Pradesh Krishi Vishvavidyalaya, Palampur, on Monday. Scientists, faculty members, officers, students and the university staff participated in the programme coordinated by Students’ Welfare Officer Desh Raj Chaudhary at the university auditorium.
Devgan said that healthy farming was the foundation of a healthy society and prosperous nation. He stressed the importance of reducing excessive dependence on chemical-based agriculture and encouraged farmers to adopt balanced, eco-friendly and sustainable farming practices to protect soil fertility, environmental health and human well-being.
He said, “India’s future prosperity depends on strengthening rural communities and ensuring long-term agricultural sustainability.” He urged students, scientists and researchers to work collectively for the welfare of farmers and promote awareness about healthy lifestyles and value-based living.”
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Vice-Chancellor Ashok Kumar Panda, who appreciated the significance of such interactions in inspiring the youth towards sustainable development, social responsibility and holistic living. He said that universities played a crucial role in shaping future leaders who could contribute positively to society and the agricultural sector.
Special guests advocates Shabananda Dalei and Adarsh Singh from the Supreme Court of India attended the programme and interacted with members of the university fraternity. Devgan motivated the youth to lead meaningful lives based on dedication, discipline and moral values. He encouraged the young minds to contribute towards nation-building through positive action and responsible citizenship. The programme concluded with a formal vote of thanks delivered by Desh Raj Chaudhary.
