THE country's number one mixed doubles, Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei, rediscovered their fiery touch when they confirmed their ticket to the final of the Indonesian Masters today.
In the semi-finals of the Super 500 tournament held at Istora Senayan, the world number four pair defeated their traditional enemies from China, Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin.
More interestingly, the victory came in style when Tang Jie-Ee Wei completed the game with a straight set result of 21-17, 21-12, thus ending their losing streak against the world number two pair.
Tang Jie-Ee Wei had previously lost in two previous meetings against Zhen Bang-Ya Xin, including at the BWF World Tour Finals last month, with a meeting record that saw the country's representatives still trailing 3-5.
Reaching the final was also a solace for the country's pair after enduring a rather slow start to the season this year, when they were stranded in the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Open and were eliminated as early as the first round of the India Open last week.
For Tang Jie - Ee Wei, who are also former world champions, the victory saw them play in the World Tour final for the 10th time in their career.
In the final stage tomorrow, Tang Jie-Ee Wei, who are on a mission to hunt for their fifth career title on the World Tour stage, are scheduled to meet either the host's representative, Jafar Hidayatullah-Felisha Pasaribu or the Danish pair, Mathias Christiansen-Alexandra Boje to determine the title. – January 24, 2026
