
TAWAU: A four-year-old girl reported missing on Friday while crossing the Kampung Ranggu River with her father has been found drowned.
The body of Putri Jimar was discovered by locals at 8am, Saturday, some 800 metres from where she was last seen.
Tawau Fire and Rescue Station Chief Jemishin Ujin said the girl’s body was found during a Search and Rescue (SAR) operation that started at 6.58am.
“The team used the Surface Rescue search method with help from other rescue agencies and locals near the site before the body was found,” he said.

Read more The body was then handed over to the police for further action and the operation ended at 8.30am.
Earlier, a rescue team was deployed at 7.24pm after an emergency call via MERS999 reported that the girl had likely been swept away by river currents at 6.06pm.
The operation involved six officers from the Fire and Rescue Department and six police officers.
