Kota Kinabalu: Todi Pickleball School officially opened its doors at the Good Club in Tanjung Aru on Wednesday.
A joint venture between Todi founded by Faizal Osman and MCC Pickleball Club, Borneo’s first dedicated pickleball academy is open to anyone aged six and older.
Faizal, who serves as the academy’s general manager and head coach, explained that he decided to establish their first centre here after recognising the immense potential in the State, particularly in Kota Kinabalu during a visit last year.
“This is more than just an academy with a coaching programme,” he said. “We want to create a platform where students can truly learn and develop as players.”MCC Pickleball Club President Faiezah Yunus believes the new partnership with Todi will open doors for students, creating a direct pathway to regional games and future opportunities to represent the State and nation.
“What makes this launch truly special is our partnership with Todi. Working alongside Faizal Osman, a pro player who boasts 21 professional titles to his name will bring invaluable expertise to our programme.
“I am confident that under his guidance, Sabah is well on its way to producing world-class talent capable of competing on the international stage,” she shared.
She expressed her gratitude to Datuk Norazlinah Arif, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, for officiating the launching ceremony.
She also extended her gratitude to Faizal for selecting Kota Kinabalu as the base, The Good Club’s owner Ryan Chu for coming on board as a partner, and all the sponsors — Delon, McEden from Thailand, Rehabworks and Velo Clinic for their vital support.
Following the launch, a large group of students and their teachers participated in a special clinic and drill session conducted by Faizal.
