
Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Team Tennis Invitational tournament organised by Sabah Tennis Association (STA) will make a return after a two-year-lapse due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
STA president Johnson Koh said on Friday that the 12th edition of the tournament with Sutera Harbour and Likas Tennis Courts as venues will be held on October 7-9 in conjunction with the Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin’s birthday celebration.
According to him, each participating team will have players’ pairing in five age groups – 35, 45, 55, 65 for men and 40 for women.
“We have teams from Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Damansara and Petaling Jaya confirmed for the tournament so far and there are likely to have some foreign players involved in some of the teams as well,” he said.
He added that he is heading the organising committee with Datuk Idrus Shafie as his deputy, Dr Elia Godoong as the secretary and the committee members are Claire Godon, Judy Ngui, Terence Wan, while the referee is Tito Latoja assisted by Shamsuddin Mustamin with Christopher Lim as the tournament director.
