The INSET (In-Service Education and Training) Programme was conducted at Shivalik Public School, Phase 6, Mohali, on the theme “Digital Transformation and Computational Thinking”. The programme was attended by principals of all five branches of Shivalik Public Schools, including Dr Gurkiranjeet Nalwa (Sector 41, Chandigarh), Dr Anupkiran Kaur (Phase 6, Mohali), Bhupinder Kaur Bhamra (Patiala), Poonam Rani (Sector 78, Mohali), and Gurvinder Kaur (Nawanshahr), along with Dr Jyoti Soni, Principal of Shivalik Institute of Education and Research, and faculty members. The programme commenced with a meaningful theme-based assembly on mental health and well-being, highlighting the importance of emotional balance and positivity in today’s fast-paced life. A special laughter session conducted by the sports staff created a cheerful and energetic environment, leaving the audience refreshed and motivated. The resource persons, Dr Lovi Raj Gupta, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Lovely Professional University, Punjab, and Dr Arun Malik, Professor and Additional Dean, Head-School of Computing and AI at Lovely Professional University, were warmly welcomed by the Shivalik team. The first session, conducted by Dr Lovi Raj Gupta, focused on ‘Computational Thinking’. Through engaging activities and practical demonstrations, he introduced teachers to the concepts of decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithm design. He also introduced the platform “Engageneer – Stop Teaching and Start Learning”, encouraging educators to adopt innovative and activity-based teaching methodologies. The second session was conducted by Dr Arun Malik on the topic “Leading Digital Transformation: Transforming Education in the Digital Era”. The highly interactive session covered important topics such as the skills required for 2025, evolution of technology, significance of Artificial Intelligence in modern education, and the benefits of AI for teachers. He also demonstrated the effective use of AI tools for preparing lesson plans, creating images, designing educational games, developing teacher profiles, and various other educational applications.
