MetMalaysia detects 4.4 magnitude quake 27km southwest of Batu Pahat at 10km depth, with tremors felt by residents nearby.
BATU PAHAT: A weak earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale was detected in the waters off Batu Pahat, Johor, at 4.55 pm today.
According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), the earthquake’s epicentre was located at coordinates 1.7 degrees North and 102.7 degrees East at a depth of 10 kilometres, approximately 27 kilometres southwest of Batu Pahat.
MetMalaysia stated that tremors were felt in Batu Pahat and surrounding areas, and the department will continue to monitor the situation.
