MANILA, Philippines — Tropical Storm Surigae has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR), according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
It said on Facebook that "Surigae" entered PAR at 7 a.m. on Thursday and will be named locally as "Queenie."
Based on a Facebook post of Pagasa, "Queenie" was 1,330 kilometers east of northern Luzon as of 8 a.m. and was moving west northwestward at 35 kilometers per hour (kph) with maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness reaching 90 kph.
