
BEAUFORT: There are plans to turn the Bisaya Culture and Arts Centre Building into a new tourism destination expected to be realised in the middle of next year.
The Persatuan Bisaya Bersatu Sabah (PBBS) President Datuk Ruslan Muharam said that for the time being, PBBS is preparing to empower the ethnic culture from the aspects of dance, music, food and many more.
He said it is to strengthen the cultural tourism products that PBBS would offer, including the ethnic historical material.
“Only the construction of three cultural houses or Walai Bisaya is left which is expected to start in the middle of this year to complete the tourism package offered by PBBS.

Read more “Once completed, the PBBS Culture and Arts Centre will be a new location for local tourism which is expected to start in the middle of next year,” he said after officiating the Bisaya Traditional Food and Games Carnival organised by PBBS Rancangan Klias Zone here Sunday.
Ruslan, who is also the Lumadan Assemblyman, said PBBS also plans to hold the Adau Gayuh Bisaya (Bisaya Community Day) celebration like the Adau Janang Gayuh (Bisaya Leader’s Day) before.
He said the proposal would be decided by the PBBS top leadership at the next meeting to determine the appropriate date to hold it.
“We cannot organise the Adau Janang Gayuh celebration like before after the passing of the late Janang Gayuh Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin in 2022.
“Thus, we plan to replace the celebration with the Adau Gayuh Bisaya which will be decided on at the next PBBS Supreme Council Meeting (AMT),” he said.
