The Verowal police registered a case on Tuesday against three persons on the charge of raping a minor girl.
The accused have been identified as Om Prakash Singh, alias Karan, of Assal in Patti; Kirandeep Kaur of Mianwind in Verowal; and her sister, Kajal of Khadoor Sahib.
It is believed that Singh used to visit Kaur’s house often. The victim has alleged that Kaur introduced her to Singh, and would often call her to her house, where she would facilitate conversations between the two over mobile phone. The victim further alleged that on one occasion a few months ago, Kaur called her to her house and instructed her to meet Singh at the village bus stand. From there, he allegedly took her somewhere on a motorcycle and raped her.
Kaur is also accused of threatening the victim, warning her that she would harm her family if she did not comply with her demands.
Kaur’s sister Kajal is also alleged to have played a role in the incident.
In this regard, Sub-Inspector Kiranpal Kaur of the Verowal police recorded the victim’s statement, on the basis of which the case has been registered.
The victim stated that she initially did not wish to approach the police due to fear of defamation, but did so on the advice of some members of the village.
The accused are absconding, and the police are conducting raids to arrest them.
