KUALA LUMPUR: U Mobile, Malaysia’s newest 5G network provider, continued investment in its ULTRA5G network is delivering measurable improvements in customer experience, with leading independent network intelligence providers Opensignal and Ookla recognising the company’s performance across speed, reliability, consistency, and everyday mobile use.
The latest Ookla Speedtest Awards for Malaysia named U Mobile Malaysia’s Best Mobile Network and Malaysia’s Fastest 5G Network for Q1 to Q2 2026.
U Mobile achieved the highest Speedtest Connectivity Score of 80.34, securing the Best Mobile Network recognition.
The score measures real world network experience by combining speed, web browsing, and video streaming performance.
U Mobile also recorded the highest 5G Speed Score of 67.26 and the market’s fastest median 5G download speed of 348.73 Mbps, earning the Fastest 5G Network award.
The Ookla recognitions build on U Mobile’s strong results in Opensignal’s Malaysia Mobile Network Experience Report, published in July 2026. Opensignal identified U Mobile as the biggest mover among Malaysian operators, with the company recording the largest improvement in Reliability, gaining 99 points, and rising from last place in the previous report to joint first.
U Mobile also improved its Consistent Quality score by 12 percentage points to secure first place outright.
The company won the Download Speed Experience and Upload Speed Experience awards, and led nationally in Consistent Quality, Download Speed, Upload Speed and 5G Availability.
At regional level, U Mobile secured 51 outright and 64 shared Opensignal awards.
It achieved a clean sweep of Download Speed awards across all regions and won recognition for 5G Download Speed and 5G Availability in every region, either outright or jointly.
These independent results reflect the ongoing expansion of U Mobile’s ULTRA5G network and its transition to operating on its own 5G infrastructure.
With end-to-end control of its network, U Mobile is better positioned to enhance coverage, optimise quality and invest in the capabilities that matter most to customers.
