NXLED aims to continue its hot start in the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference as the Chameleons take on the dangerous Capital 1 Solar Spikers on Saturday at the Ynares Center in Montalban, Rizal.
Game time is 6:30 p.m. with Nxled and Capital 1 gunning for a 2-0 start.
The Chameleons, the league’s perennial bottom-dweller, opened the conference with a hard-fought five-set victory against the Farm Fresh Foxies last Tuesday.
The Chameleons are hoping to get out of the cellar and vie for a podium finish this season with former Petro Gazz players Brooke Van Sickle, MJ Phillips and Myla Pablo in tow.
Van Sickle, a three-time PVL Most Valuable Player, made a double-double performance of 20 points and 11 excellent receptions last Tuesday to lead Nxled.
“I definitely think that it was a long rally game. We had to be patient and stay calm on the other side of the court. I’m glad we were able to pull this off and get underway,” Van Sickle said.
Pablo and Phillips added 19 and 13 points, respectively, in their first game with the Chameleons.
On the other side of the court, Capital 1 will rely on 2025 overall draft pick Bella Belen, who led the Solar Spikers to a four-set victory over ZUS last Tuesday.
Belen was three excellent receptions away from a triple-double after stuffing the statistical sheet with 26 points on 24 attacks and two aces, 16 excellent digs and seven excellent receptions.
Belen, a three-time UAAP champion with National University, said there is not much to prove being the first overall pick but promised to give her best to help the team win.
“Maybe [it’s] not [about proving myself], because my mindset is always that I just need to surpass my performance from the last conference,” she said.
“It’s always like that. For me, I don’t need to prove anything to others; I just need to prove to myself that I can improve every conference,” she added.
Aside from Belen, Capital 1 can also lean on Pauline Gaston and Shaya Adorador.
In the first game, winless teams Galeries Tower Highrisers and ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles look to pick up their first win when they collide at 4 p.m.
Galeries suffered a straight sets loss against Cignal while ZUS bowed to Capital 1 in their season opener.
The Highrisers will be led by veteran Aiza Maizo-Pontillas while ZUS will rely on the leadership of Jov Gonzaga.
