Kota Kinabalu: United Sabah Islamic Association (Usia) Kudat Division Head Jasni Eser criticised PKR Vice President Awang Husaini Sahari for making claims on matters he (Awang) does not fully comprehend.
Jasni referred to Awang Husaini as such when the latter claimed that Usia President Datuk Sapawi Ahmad’s opposition to the construction of the Mazu Monument in Kudat was shameful and unfounded.
In a statement Tuesday, Jasni claimed that Awang Husaini was the one who was actually speaking incoherently and lacking context.
Jasni supported Sapawi’s position on the subject, calling it very accurate and acceptable in defending the sanctity and sovereignty of Islam.
“People who claim to be Muslims yet keep mute when the sanctity of Islam is being destroyed should feel ashamed,” he said.
He said the Kudat Usia Division firmly supports Usia’s stance against the Mazu Statue’s proposed site close to the Kudat District Mosque.
