The USMNT’s journey at the 2026 FIFA World Cup has come to a crashing end in the Round of 16.
Despite the controversial overturning of Folarin Balogun’s suspension, the USMNT were simply no match for Belgium as they suffered a humiliating 4-1 defeat in the Round of 16.
The defeat rattled USMNT supporters, who believed that their country had a legitimate shot at winning the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

USMNT fans crash out after 4-1 humiliation vs. Belgium
It’s one thing to lose a game, but to get eliminated in such a fashion showed that the USMNT is nowhere near ready to actually compete at the World Cup.
As expected, fans were surprised, with one stating, “Christian Pulisic ain’t Captain America like we’ve been fed to believe… he is made of paper, and USA can’t ride him as the guy… disappointing.”
While another added, “I thought Balogun was unsuspended for this game? I’ve not seen him anywhere on the pitch.” A third fan stated, “Not even with Daddy Trump, the USA can’t win.”
“The team has good ideas, but when it’s time to execute, you remember they’re mostly MLS dudes,” a fourth fan pointed out. “Back to not watching this awful sport for 4 years,” a fifth fan announced.
Some fans coped by claiming they do not even care about soccer, while others simply pointed out the gaps in the current USMNT squad.
At the end of the day, it was a disappointing end to what started as a promising campaign, with the players having a lot to improve before the 2030 World Cup.
