Walmart is hosting VIP tours for curious World Cup fans

Walmart is offering VIP tours of its stores for World Cup visitors fascinated by America’s super-sized culture.

As people come from around the globe to watch soccer matches at U.S. stadiums this summer, one thing has become apparent — Americans love big portion sizes, and foreigners love to gawk at it.

One European visiting America for the World Cup took his TikTok followers on an unofficial tour of Walmart, likening it to a museum. He laughed as he held up a 10-pound roll of ground beef, telling viewers, “This is bigger than my future.”

A large group of Australian soccer fans also took over a Walmart in Dallas, Texas ahead of a match. In the video, hundreds of fans can jumping up and down in the superstore, while chanting, “We’re going to Walmart.”

After going viral on social media for its awe-inspiring section of groceries, the superstore is now offering two formal tours — one in Florida after the quarterfinal game between Norway and England this Saturday and one in New Jersey ahead of the final match on July 19, CNN reported.

The tours will feature “custom Walmart passports, aisle stamps, swag, tour guides and curated product samplings,” a company spokesperson told CNN.

Only the first 20 people in line for Walmart’s World Cup parking lot will get to experience the VIP tour, held in partnership with Spain’s top soccer league, La Liga.

At select Walmart stores across the country, the retailer has been hosting it’s Legendary Kickoffs, where fans can enjoy food, games, custom merch, music and special guests, according to a June press release.

The parking lot event outside Walmart’s store in Miramar, north of Miami, will take place Sunday and feature special guests Alexis Nunes from ESPN, Colombian striker Radamel Falcao and Inter Miami star Luis Suárez.

Sunday’s event is already sold out, but soccer fans can still register for the Legendary Kickoffs party at its East Brunswick store in New Jersey on July 18 through Walmart’s website.

While foreigners have enjoyed finding American delicacies, including its massive selection of chip flavors and, as one tourist called, dog-food-sized bags of sugary cereal, there is one condiment they can’t get enough of.

“One World. One Ranch,” TSA wrote on social media last month.

While the agency admitted that “ranch is the king of condiments,” it warned foreigners that they can’t bring jumbo ranch bottles home with them — at least in their carry on bags.

“Are you kicking around the idea of flying home with your favorite dip? If you’re traveling within the U.S., make sure to keep your carry-on sauces to 3.4oz or less and place any larger containers in your checked bags,” TSA said in a June 16 Instagram post.
