
TAMBUNAN: A 56-year-old woman was found dead with injuries believed to have been caused by a sharp weapon at a rented house in Kampung Katagayan, here, Friday.
Keningau Police Chief Supt Erwansyah Abdul Nasir said police received a report on the incident at about 2pm.
He said initial investigations found the victim had suffered injuries believed caused by a sharp weapon.
“Following the incident, police traced a 31-year-old man who is the victim’s son,” he said, adding the suspect was detained by villagers at a hut in Kampung Sukung, Tambunan.
The villagers brought him to the Tambunan police station in their vehicle.
“Upon arrival at the Tambunan police station, the suspect was formally arrested by officers from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Keningau District Police Headquarters,” he said.
Erwansyah said investigators and the forensic team conducted an examination at the scene and seized several items believed linked to the incident.
The victim’s body was sent to the hospital for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
