Kota Kinabalu: A woman in her 20s sustained injuries when her Myvi collided with an ambulance transporting a female patient to Likas hospital on Tuesday.

In the 8.50pm accident, the Myvi driver was coming out from the traffic light junction near Wisma Wanita while the ambulance from Queen Elizabeth Hospital 1 was passing through.

It was understood that the traffic lights on the Myvi side was green when the driver came out from the junction.

The impact caused the Myvi to hit the road divider. The female patient and the Myvi driver were subsequently rushed to the hospital by another ambulance.

Members of the public hoped that ambulance drivers will exercise caution when passing traffic light junctions to prevent mishaps.

“Ambulance drivers should first ensure that the route is safe before taking emergency action such as running through a red light,” they said.
