Ysera Aesthetics expands beyond skincare with a patient-first approach

Ysera Aesthetics Center has come a long way from its beginnings as a small skincare clinic before the Covid-19 pandemic. Today, the growing practice offers a wide range of surgical and non-surgical aesthetic treatments, guided by a philosophy that places patient care and confidence at the forefront.

“What we do is not simply about changing features. Sometimes, it’s about helping people regain confidence, dignity and a sense of self they may have lost over the years,” said Dr. Patrick David Tan, surgical director of Ysera Aesthetics Center, in an interview.

That philosophy has helped shape the clinic’s growth in an increasingly competitive aesthetic industry, where patients are seeking not only physical enhancements but also personalized care and trusted medical guidance.

Building a healthcare business during and after the pandemic was no easy task. Beyond the financial uncertainty, aesthetic clinics had to navigate changing patient expectations and heightened concerns about safety and trust.

“There was uncertainty everywhere, not just financially, but emotionally as well. People became more cautious about health, trust and even human interaction,” Tan said.

“One of the biggest challenges was building credibility and consistency during a time when the healthcare industry itself was under pressure. We focused heavily on patient safety, honest communication and creating a team culture centered on genuine care.”

Rather than pursuing rapid expansion, Ysera focused on earning patient trust and building long-term relationships.

“Growth did not happen overnight. It came from years of hard work, long operating hours, continuous learning and earning patient trust one case at a time. I’m very proud that Ysera grew organically through patient referrals and relationships. For me, that kind of growth means people truly believed in the care we provided,” Tan said.

From its roots in skincare, Ysera has evolved into a full-service aesthetic practice with branches in Quezon City and Ortigas. The clinic offers facial surgeries such as rhinoplasty, alarplasty, alar lift, blepharoplasty, buccal fat removal and chin augmentation, alongside a variety of non-surgical and anti-aging treatments.

Patients also have access to laser treatments, fillers, biostimulators, skin boosters, acne scar management, diode hair removal and body contouring procedures.

Among the clinic’s most popular services are facials, laser treatments and minimally invasive procedures designed to enhance appearance while minimizing downtime.

Ysera’s medical team includes aesthetic physicians and surgeons who tailor treatment plans to each patient’s needs. The center’s mission is to promote self-care and confidence through a person’s desired appearance while making aesthetic treatments more accessible.

For Tan, however, the most meaningful aspect of his work often goes beyond the procedures themselves.

Throughout his career, he has encountered patients who spent years avoiding photographs, social gatherings or even simple interactions because of insecurities they quietly carried for much of their lives.

One patient in particular left a lasting impression. The patient became emotional during a follow-up consultation after finally feeling comfortable being seen without hiding.

“That moment stayed with me. It reminded me that what we do is not simply about changing features. Sometimes, it’s about helping people regain confidence, dignity and a sense of self they may have lost over the years,” Tan said.

Experiences like that have reinforced his belief that aesthetic medicine can have a meaningful impact on a person’s quality of life when practiced responsibly and ethically.

Many people still associate cosmetic procedures with vanity, but Tan believes the conversation is evolving.

“I understand why that perception exists because, on the surface, aesthetic surgery can seem purely cosmetic. But after years of practice, I’ve seen firsthand how deeply appearance can affect confidence, mental well-being and social interactions.

“Many patients are not chasing perfection. They simply want to feel more comfortable in their own skin. Some have carried insecurities since childhood, while others are recovering from difficult life experiences that affected how they see themselves.”

Whether performing rhinoplasty, chin augmentation or other facial procedures, he emphasizes the importance of creating results that complement a person’s natural features rather than dramatically altering them.

“Facial surgery is where medicine and artistry meet. The scientific side involves anatomy, structural support, healing, airway function, tissue behavior and surgical precision. But beyond that, there’s also an artistic responsibility to understand balance, proportion, harmony and individuality.

“A beautiful result is not about applying the same template to every patient. It’s about understanding what fits naturally with their facial structure, ethnicity and overall character.”

Looking ahead, Tan hopes Ysera will continue to grow while remaining grounded in the values that have guided the clinic from the beginning.

The center currently offers consultations at its Mayon Street branch in Quezon City and its Ortigas Center branch, serving patients seeking everything from skincare treatments to facial surgery.
