Kota Kinabalu: The five teenagers charged in the Children's Court over the Zara Qairina Mahathir incident have no family ties to any VIPs, VVIPs, or politicians, the Coroner’s Court heard on Wednesday.
Investigating officer Inspector Wong Yew Zhung, the 83rd witness, confirmed to counsel Abdul Fikry Jaafar Abdullah that his investigation found no evidence of prominent figures attempting to influence the case or shield Students A, B, C, D, and E from legal action.
Testifying before Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan, the police inspector said his investigation revealed neither familial connections nor any external protection extended to the five juveniles.
When asked by the coroner to define the terms VIP and VVIP, Wong said his understanding extended to figures such as social media influencers, but maintained that no influencer had pressured him or approached other witnesses.
Wong further testified that he faced no external interference during his probe, adding that any stress he experienced stemmed strictly from handling the case itself while maintaining professional conduct.
