ZUS guns for second consecutive win

THE ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles aim to pick up their second consecutive win in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) On Tour when they take on fan favorite Choco Mucho Flying Titans on Saturday, July 11, at the Batangas City Sports Coliseum.

The ZUS-Choco Mucho match begins at 6:30 p.m., after the 4 p.m. showdown between Farm Fresh and Galeries Tower.

The Thunderbelles opened their PVL On Tour campaign with a 25-11, 25-23, 24-26, 25-17 victory over the Akari Chargers last Wednesday.

On that game, ZUS relied on the offensive prowess of Zam Nolasco, who scored 15 points on 11 attacks and four blocks. “I will continue working hard and will double up all the things that we do in our practice, so that I am ready to face Choco Mucho. This is for my team, and we will do more viewings and discussions,” she said after the match.

Nolasco, however, did not single-handedly win it for ZUS as she drew support from Alexis Miner and Jolina Dela Cruz, who chipped in 15 and 12 points, respectively.

Choco Mucho, on the other hand, will not be playing with high-flyer Sisi Rondina but still packs a solid wing rotation led by Eya Laure, Isa Molde and Dindin Manabat.

In last year’s edition of the tournament, Choco Mucho placed 10th while ZUS placed seventh overall. This time, both teams seek retribution and will try to make it deeper into the playoffs.

Looking to make the most out of the pre-season tournament, the Flying Titans will test their mettle with newcomers Jewel Encarnacion and Ivy Perez, who both played for the defunct Cignal Super Spikers last year.

In the other game, Galeries will lean on Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and Alas Pilipinas playmaker Julia Coronel.

The Highrisers finished at the bottom of the standings in 2025 but have actually beefed up their roster this season.

Farm Fresh, meanwhile, placed sixth last year and will bank on Trisha Tubu, Ara Galang and Mylene Paat to carry the team to the final four.
