132 undocumented migrants sent home

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Immigration Department repatriated 132 undocumented migrants from the Philippines and Indonesia by commercial ferry on Thursday.

In a statement on Thursday, the 115 Filipinos, comprising 59 men, 21 women and 35 children aged between six months and 57, were sent from the Kota Kinabalu, Papar and Tawau Immigration depots to Bongao, Tawi-Tawi, via Lahad Datu Port.

Another 17 Indonesians, comprising 13 men, two women and two children aged between one and 68, were repatriated from the Tawau Immigration Depot to Nunukan through Tawau Port.

The department said all children were accompanied by their parents or guardians, while the detainees had completed their sentences and possessed valid travel documents.

It said 4,580 undocumented migrants had been repatriated so far, comprising 3,004 Filipinos, 1,334 Indonesians, 113 Pakistanis, 92 Chinese nationals, 18 Vietnamese and 19 from other countries.
