A 26-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband in a colony adjoining the grain market in Gohana. The accused allegedly packed the body in a plastic bag and attempted to bury it before the police intervened.

Acting on information received through Dial-112, the police reached the spot and recovered the woman’s body from the bag. The Gohana City police have registered a case and started an investigation.

The deceased has been identified as Priyanka, a resident of Gharwal village, who was living with her husband Sandeep and their children. She was reportedly Sandeep’s second wife.

According to preliminary information, an argument broke out between the couple late on Saturday night. During the altercation, Sandeep allegedly assaulted Priyanka brutally, leading to her death on the spot.

After the incident, the accused allegedly packed the body in a plastic bag and dug a pit inside the house in an attempt to bury it, but failed to carry out the plan.

The accused later called his friend, Nizamuddin, a resident of Garhi Sarai Namdar Khan village, and allegedly told him that the bag was heavy because it contained iron goods. However, when Nizamuddin arrived, he became suspicious that the bag contained a body and informed the police through Dial-112.

On reaching the spot, the police found the bag lying in a pit in an adjoining plot. After opening it, they recovered Priyanka’s body.

Based on Nizamuddin’s complaint, the Gohana City police registered a case and launched a probe into the matter.
