
Kota Kinabalu: A 48-year-old man claimed trial at the High Court here Tuesday to three counts of trafficking drugs.
Yii Hock Kiong pleaded not guilty before Judicial Commissioner Amelati Parnell to committing the offence on Feb 22, 2021.
On the first count, Yii allegedly trafficked 69.43gm of syabu at 9.25am at the parking lot on the basement of the Lido Four Seasons Residence, here.
On the second and third counts, Yi was accused of trafficking 2,280.06gm of Ketamine and 943.39gm of syabu, respectively, at 9.51am at a unit at block C, level 12 of the same condominium, Jalan Lintas, Kepayan.
Each charge was framed under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which carries a punishment with either the death penalty or life in prison and whipping with a minimum of 15 strokes.
The court set May 29 for mention.
Yii was ordered to be further remanded as the charges against him has no provision for bail.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohammed Ali Imran prosecuted.
