Newcastle defender Fabian Schar is hoping to win a new contract.
Schar has been in negotiations with the Magpies over a contract extension as he looks to sign one of the most important deals of his career.
At 30, Schar could get past the 100 appearance mark for Newcastle during the run-in but has an eye on the future too. After signing a one year extension last summer, the deal put talk of a move to the Bundesliga on hold.
Asked about his future, Schar told Chronicle Live: "I think I will know soon.
"I enjoy playing for Newcastle United under Eddie Howe. Hopefully, we can say more in a few weeks. But I'm very happy here. Newcastle are my first option."
