Kota Kinabalu: The public are urged to be vigilant with standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance when visiting Ramadan bazaars as sporadic transmissions are still high, said Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
“The percentage of sporadic infections remain high, which is nearly 65 per cent on Wednesday.
“This indicates that the risk of transmission is still widespread, especially in congested public places. The people are urged to comply with the enforced SOPs at all times, especially when visiting stalls at crowded Ramadan bazaars,” he said in a statement, Wednesday.
Sabah’s caseload rose slightly to 158 on Wednesday from 150 the day earlier, while one death was recorded in Sipitang.
Masidi said no new clusters were identified, while the State Health Department officially closed the Tolokoson Kem 2 Cluster in Tenom.
“There is only one active cluster left in Sabah,” he added.
On the caseload, Masidi said Kota Kinabalu topped the list with 42 cases, followed by Sandakan (24), Papar (15), Penampang (13), Beaufort (7), Ranau (6) and Tenom (6).
“A total of 18 districts recorded single-digit cases, of which 14 recorded less than five cases. Five districts did not record any new cases,” he said.
Masidi said the majority of cases are mild, with 149 out of 158 cases being category one and two infections, while five are in category three, three in category four and one in category five.
On Sabah’s immunisation programme, 3,102 individuals took their vaccines on April 12, of which 908 were adults, 165 were teenagers and 2,029 were children.
