Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s cases spiked up to 57 on Wednesday from 39 the day earlier, with sporadic infections remaining high at 63 per cent, said Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
“Risk of transmission is still high. As predicted much earlier, the daily caseload will increase during/after the Aidilfitri and Kaamatan celebrations.
“The public are reminded to be cautious and abide by the standard operating procedures (SOPs) when celebrating the festivities, especially in settings involving a lot of people,” he said in a statement, Wednesday.
No deaths or new clusters were identified.
Masidi said Kota Kinabalu topped the list with 18 cases, followed by Tuaran (7), Penampang (4), Sandakan (4), Lahad Datu (3) and Putatan (3).
“Overall, there are more districts recording an increase compared to districts recording a decrease, although marginal. Ten districts did not record any new cases,” he added.
He said the majority of cases were mild, with 54 out of 57 being category one and two infections, while two were in category four and one in category five. There were no category three infections.
