KOTA MARUDU: Police are looking for a man in connection with a brawl at the Langkon Commercial Centre to assist in investigations.
Kota Marudu District Police Chief Supt Zairolnizal Ishak said Ramlie Awang, 34, is believed to have fled the district after causing serious injuries on a 26-year-old man by using a machete at about 6.30pm on Wednesday.
“The victim had suffered a 10cm-long wound on the left side of his head and a cracked skull but received treatment and was reported in stable condition.
“Initial investigation found that the cause of the incident was due to the victim being not satisfied with the suspect for beating him up during a wedding in Kg Ranau seven years ago (around 2015).
“Preliminary investigation found that at about 6pm, while eating with his cousin at a restaurant, the victim spotted the suspect outside the shop and confronted him.
“The victim pushed the suspect’s chin and the suspect responded by taking a machete from his car and chased the victim and slashing the victim’s head in the process.
“The victim’s cousin who witnessed the incident, acted to stop the fight and managed to snatch the machete from the suspect. The suspect then fled the scene in a white Proton Saga with a fake registration number,” said Zairolnizal.
Zaironizal said the case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code. Those have information about the suspect, or know his whereabouts are advised to immediately contact the police.
