MANILA, Philippines — Ateneo Blue Eagles players Kieffer Alas and Sam Reyes dismissed online claims that other team members were left in critical condition during the team-building activity in Dipaculao, Aurora.
In an interview on the Let’s Talk podcast with Pia Hontiveros, the two clarified that only Rene Baterbonia, 18, and Divine Adili, 21, required critical medical attention.
Both players firmly denied allegations circulating online that the university was withholding information about additional affected athletes.
“No,” Alas and Reyes said, shaking their heads when asked if others needed resuscitation or CPR.
Reyes explained that while some teammates experienced minor physical distress, none were in life-threatening condition.
“The other things that happened to others were that some were puking on the beach,” Reyes said.
