Several parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, and the Visayas will continue to have rain throughout the day due to the southwest monsoon, or habagat, enhanced by tropical cyclones outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), state weather bureau Pagasa said before dawn Sunday.
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, Pagasa indicated that moderate to heavy monsoon rain threatens Ilocos Sur, La Union, Abra, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila, the rest of the Ilocos Region and the Cordillera Administrative Region, Nueva Vizcaya, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas, Oriental Mindoro, and Antique will experience occasional rain showers due to the habagat.
In central Philippines, the Negros Island Region, Central Visayas, Leyte, and Southern Leyte will have cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.
In extreme northern Luzon, Batanes would experience cloudy skies with scattered rain and thunderstorms due to the trough of Typhoon Dolphin outside the PAR.
Pagasa said two tropical cyclones outside the PAR are enhancing the southwest monsoon: Typhoon Dolphin, which is now threatening Eastern China, and a tropical depression 755 kilometers north-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.
Moderate to heavy and sometimes intense rain could trigger flash floods or landslides in these areas, the state weather bureau warned. (TMT)
