Intense to torrential rain to prevail in Luzon, Pagasa says

MANILA, Philippines — Intense to torrential rain will prevail in Luzon because of the southwest monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Sunday.

Weather Specialist Aldczar Aurelio said intense to torrential rains were expected in Ilocos Sur and Benguet, while heavy to intense rains were expected in Abra, Zambales, Bataan, Metro Manila, Cavite, Batangas, and Occidental Mindoro.

Moderate to heavy rains were expected in Ilocos Norte, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Benguet, Nueva Vizcaya, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, Laguna, Oriental Mindoro, and Antique.

Batanes and Babuyan Islands (Babuyan Island and Calayan Island) were placed under a gale warning. Boats were banned from going out to sea because of high waves of up to five meters.

Visayas and Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains due to thunderstorms.

Pagasa said it continues to monitor Typhoon Dolphin and two tropical depressions. Aurelio said there was a low chance the three would enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
