Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board finalised a major realignment of eight Bas.My (Pink Bus) routes, extending coverage to reach nearly 70% of Kota Kinabalu’s main corridors and serving tens of thousands more passengers.
Its Board Chairman Senator Phoong Jin Zhe announced that the decision was reached during the Board’s 7th meeting of 2026 held September 25, and comes as ridership surges and with 367,798 passenger trips recorded up to September 20 this year alone.
PhoongNewly added stops and sectors include Tanjung Aru, Luyang Clinic, Likas Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Bandar Sierra, and Kota Kinabalu High School.
The full rollout and adjustment process is targeted for completion by October 15, 2026.
Phoong said the expansion is designed to match rising public demand and bring reliable public transport closer to where people live, work, and access essential services.
“With this realignment, Bas.My will now serve at least 70% of Kota Kinabalu City Hall’s key routes — linking neighbourhoods to healthcare, education, commercial centres and more,” he stated.
Coordination with the Public Works Department (JKR), Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) and stakeholders is underway to improve critical infrastructure including bus stops, lay-bys and bus bays in high-demand areas.
At the same time, Phoong directed tighter monitoring and enforcement to ensure buses run on schedule, comply fully with operating conditions, and deliver consistent service quality.
He also pledged to cut red tape across the Board’s licensing division, announcing that unnecessary documentation requirements — such as business partnership agreements and bankruptcy disclosures deemed to have no material bearing on licence approvals — will be removed to speed up processing.
