A 25-year-old man was injured as his bike collided with a JCB machine while the latter as making a U-turn near Veer Palace Chowk on Chandigarh Road here.

The injured — Raja, a resident of Mundian Khurd — was taken to a nearby private hospital, where his condition is stated as critical.

The police have registered a case against the unidentified JCB machine driver, who fled the scene with his vehicle.

Victim’s father Lalit Kumar, who filed a police complaint, said his son was going to Jamalpur Chowk with his friend, Ranbir Kumar, for personal work when the accident occurred.

The victim’s father demanded immediate arrest of the accused driver.

Investigating officer assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Rakesh Kumar said the police were making efforts to identify the accused.
